Like many other places on the coast, Fuengirola was originally a fishers village and is now one of the most popular destinations on the Costa del Sol. Fuengirola is located on 25 km away from Malaga International Airport. Due to the subtropical Mediterranean climate, with an annual average of 18 °C and the temperature in summer reaching over 30 °C, Fuengirola is bathes in sunshine for almost 10 months of the year.
Fuengirola is divided into different districts: El Centro, which is the centre of Fuengirola, Los Pacos, Los Boliches, Torrequebrada and El Carvajal.
